2009 Vineyard & Valley Scenic Tour Route Photo Contest

The Washington County, Oregon Vineyard & Valley Scenic Tour Route is a beautiful journey through farmland, wildlife preserves and pristine vineyards. All are invited to enter the 2009 Washington County, Oregon Vineyard & Valley Scenic Tour Route Photo Contest to showcase the many features of the new tour route.

Thank you to all participants who entered our photo contest. The contest is now over and we’re busy reviewing and selecting our winning images. We will announce winners January 8, 2010. View submitted photos.

What to Enter

We are looking for images that portray the Vineyard & Valley Scenic Tour Route and illustrate the specific categories provided. Images will be judged on originality, technical excellence, composition, overall impact and artistic merit.

Categories

• Wine: Including, but not limited to, vineyards, wineries, winemakers and tasting rooms.
• Agriculture: Including, but not limited to, crops, nurseries, barns, farms, farmstands and livestock.
• Nature: Including, but not limited to, protected wildlife areas, flora, fauna and vistas.
• History: Including, but not limited to, towns, buildings, cemeteries and interpretive markers.

Prizes

Winning images will be featured in print and electronic marketing materials produced by Washington County Visitors Association. A total of $3,000 in prize money will be distributed, including a $500 prize in each category and a $1,000 Grand Prize.

Entry

The competition is open to everyone except employees of Washington County Visitors Association, its vendors, partners, and board members. The Washington County Visitors Association shall have the right to verify, in their sole judgment, winner eligibility. Entries must be received by December 15, 2009.

Entry to the contest, including adding photos to the “VisitWashingtonCountyOregon” group on Flickr, constitutes your agreement to allow your photographs to be published and used in online and offline marketing materials produced by the Washington County Visitors Association and select travel partners. Entrants retain ownership and all other rights to future use of their photographs. Photos will be credited where possible.

Submitting Entries

• Log in to Flickr.com using your existing Flickr™ or Yahoo!™ ID. If you do not have a Flickr™ account, you can sign up for a free account at Flickr™.com.  Flickr™ and Yahoo!™ are registered trademarks of Yahoo, Inc. If you have trouble using Flickr™, please consult their help files.
• Go to Flickr.com and search for the group "WashingtonCountyOregonScenicTourRoute" in the Search Groups box.
• On the WashingtonCountyOregonScenicTourRoute group page, click the Join This Group button.
• Upload images to Flickr™.com as publicly accessible, in the highest resolution you have available.
• Include the tag Vineyard&Valley. If you do not tag your photos by the deadline, they will not be considered for the competition.
• Add the photos to the WashingtonCountyOregonScenicTourRoute group by clicking on the “Add to Group” icon. (Note: all photos will be subject to review before they appear in the WashingtonCountyOregonScenicTourRoute group. Please wait at least three days for them to appear.)
• Identify locations and events in captions of no more than 50 words per image. PLEASE NOTE: ALL IMAGES MUST BE SHOT IN WASHINGTON COUNTY, OREGON AND VISIBLE ALONG THE SCENIC TOUR ROUTE.
• Submit an official entry form with signed model releases, where applicable, and send by mail to: Vineyard & Valley Photo Contest, Washington County Visitors Association, 11000 SW Stratus Street, Suite 170, Beaverton, OR 97008 by December 15, 2009.
  

Guidelines

• Each entrant may submit up to 10 photos to the competition.
• Official entries will be judged by the Vineyard&Valley tag. Entrants are encouraged to add an unlimited number of photos to the “WashingtonCountyOregonScenicTourRoute” group and then tag the 10 images that they would like to be considered for official entry when the contest closes on December 15, 2009.
• Photo entries must be at least a large size on Flickr (about 1024 x 771).
  

Model Releases

Entries featuring people are encouraged, but must be accompanied by signed model releases granting Washington County Visitors Association the right to use the images in its marketing materials and website. Releases should include contact information for the people featured, including full names and phone numbers. Photographs of children should include signed permission by a parent or legal guardian. Releases can be found at the end of this document.

Judging

Winning entries will be selected by their depiction of Washington County, Oregon’s Vineyard & Valley Scenic Tour Route as well as overall photo quality and must be received by December 15, 2009. The judging panel will include representatives from Washington County Visitors Association and its creative agency, Citrus, Inc. Results will be announced by January 8, 2010.
