Peregrine Falcon Watching in Oregon

Peregrine Falcons are sometimes called simply Peregrines, and they are famous for being the fastest creature on earth. They are able to dive for prey at speeds over 200 miles per hour, and they've made a heroic comeback after pesticide-related problems wiped many of them out in the final decades of the 20th century. There are now more than 140 known Peregrine Falcon nesting sites in Oregon according to the local Audubon Society. The mature Peregrine Falcon typically has a body length of between 13 and 23 inches, with females usually much larger than males. They nearly always feed on medium sized birds, and two of their most productive nesting sites are on bridges in the Portland area.

Habitats for Peregrine Falcons
