White-throated Sparrow Watching in Oregon

Usually about 7 inches long at maturity, they have a complicated color pattern, with some minor variations among them, but the yellow patch over their eyes is distinctive.White-throated Sparrows forage on or near the ground, preferring to eat mostly seeds of grasses and weeds during the cooler months, and insects during their summer breeding season up north. Their song is unusually pleasant and whistle-like, which makes them a welcome visitor as they frequently live near population centers.
