Tree lighting events illuminate the area 

Tree lighting

The holidays are ushered in with grand events across many of the cities and towns in Oregon's Washington County. This year looks to be the busiest yet; here's a rundown:

Tree Lighting Events 

Friday, Dec. 2 - Beaverton City Park & Library 
Festivities begin at 5 p.m. at the library with an open house, live music and Santa and Mrs. Claus. Live music continues at the park at 6 p.m., with tree lighting at 7 p.m. Details.  

Saturday, Dec. 3 - Lake at the Tualatin Commons
The fun begins at 5:30 p.m. with kids' activities and refreshments, followed by the 7 p.m. tree lighting and Santa visit. Details.

Saturday, Dec. 3 - Downtown Hillsboro
Starting with a "Holly Days" Market from 1-7 p.m., the fun continues with live music and caroling; Santa arrives at 2 p.m.; hot chocolate and cookies are served; and the tree lighting is at 5:30 p.m. Details.

Saturday, Dec. 3 - Sherwood Old Town
Starting with a parade at 4 p.m. in Cannery Square Plaza (at Pine & Columbia), the fun continues with a tree lighting ceremony, a Santa appearance, free hot dogs and hot cocoa and live music. Details.
