The climate of Washington County, Oregon, mirrors that of  Portland. Although many believe that the Portland metropolitan region is to be excessively rainy, the area’s average annual rainfall is 36.3 inches - less than that of New York City, Houston, St. Louis or Seattle. Moderate temperatures, especially during spring through fall, make Washington County, Oregon, the ideal destination for outdoor recreation.

Getting Here

Getting to Washington County, Oregon, is easy, and access to the region is a short distance from downtown Portland. The Portland Metropolitan area is accessible via Portland International Airport (PDX), one of the fastest-growing major airports in the United States. Daily flights are available, including direct or non-stop service to/from more than 100 cities worldwide. Amtrak rail service also is available for travel in the U.S. Additionally, the area is easily accessible by car, as Interstate 5 travels through the state. International flights service Japan, Mexico and Canada, and offer direct service to the East Coast.  Please allow at least one hour or longer to drive to or from Washington County, Oregon and Portland International Airport.

From Portland International Airport
By car:
•         Take Airport Way to I-205 South
•         Turn right onto I-205 South
•         Follow to I-84 West exit
•         Follow I-84 to Portland
•         Access to I-5 North/South, I-405 and Hwy. 26 West

Take Hwy. 26 West to travel to Beaverton, Hillsboro and Forest Grove. To drive to Tigard, take OR-217, from Hwy. 26. To Tualatin and Wilsonville, from I-84 take I-5.

By public transportation:
•         From PDX, the MAX light rail travels west to Hillsboro, with stops in Beaverton. Tri-Met buses also travel from Portland to Washington County.  For schedules, visit www.trimet.org.
