Meeting Space in a Natural Setting

WCVA Enjoys an Exciting New Meeting Option

The WCVA hosted an event at L.L. “Stub” Stewart State Park in 2010 as part of our monthly “Westside Spotlight” series. We gathered in one of the cabins in the Mountain Dale Cabin Village, which is used primarily as a meeting/event facility and an ideal meeting space.

There's plenty of meeting space at Stub Stewart!

L.L. “Stub” Stewart State park opened in July 2007 as the first new state park in Oregon in more than 30 years, and is an out-of-the-box idea for a small meeting in one of Oregon’s most breathtaking settings. The magnificent views alone are worth the trip.

Surrounded by forested hills and views of the Coast Range, the setting at L.L. “Stub” Stewart State park offers these natural highlights of views from Washington County. In the group-use cabin, there’s a full kitchen, two grills on the patio, tables, chairs and restrooms; just right for a meeting for up to 50 people in a retreat-type environment.
From the group-use cabin, there are trails that lead to the day-use facility, where the plentiful supply of picnic tables and even more sweeping views would be a great place to enjoy a picnic lunch with your group.

stub_stewart_viewIf you choose to make your meeting multiple days and attendees want to stay overnight, there are several options available at the park. Small, rustic one- and two-room cabins, each with its own fire pit, are the closest sites to the group-use facility. Tent sites and RV spots are not too far. (See Angie Marsh’s blog post titled “A Cozy Cabin Stay at Stub Stewart State Park” for a more detailed description of the lodging options.)
Looking to do a group energizer? Well, how about a short hike to get the blood flowing? A variety of trails for hiking and biking are easily accessible, including the trailhead for the Banks Vernonia State Trail.
