Purple Cow Vineyards, one of Washington County’s newest wineries, is a small, family-owned winery producing only 500 cases per year. In fact, the owner, the wine-maker, and the vineyard manager all have the same name. The advantage is clear accountability, and the knowledge of the relationship between the vineyard and the wine. Purple Cow Vineyards is aggressive with their grape variety selection, producing wines generally regarded as too heat demanding the geography of the northern Willamette Valley. Purple Cow practices site-planning at a micro-climatic scale, sometimes switching rootstock in the middle of a row to take advantage of the change in temperature or water availability. Purple Cow Vineyards invite you to come appreciate the value of expert attention. Purple Cow’s tasting room is open Saturday-Sunday, 12-5pm.
