Welcome to the gateway to Oregon wine country! Situated in the northern region of the fertile Willamette Valley--and just a short trip from downtown Portland--Washington County is home to nearly 30 wineries that produce world-renowned, premium Pinot Noir, Pinot Blanc, Pinot Gris, Chardonnay, Riesling, Gewürztraminer... and the list goes on.

Several of Washington County’s wineries (including the world’s only American-owned and operated saké brewery) have regular tasting hours, where visitors can have an up-close-and-personal wine (or saké) tasting experience.  Other wineries are open by appointment or during special event weekends only.

Washington County’s wineries and vineyards include some of Oregon’s most renowned (and oldest) names in wine making. Most wineries are family-owned, with several now being operated by the second generation of wine makers. From “Old World” wine-making philosophies from the “Old Country” regions of France and Italy, to “New Age” styles, including certified sustainable, biodynamic and organic wines, Washington County is an important chapter in Oregon’s wine story.
